KEEP BABY IN MIND
- Baby’s skin is more delicate & thinner than older children and adults.
- The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that younger.babies – under 6 months – be kept away from direct sunlight.
-
A sunscreen containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide is preferred. Please consult with physician prior to choosing a sunscreen.Â
Did you know? Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. It only takes one blistering sunburn during childhood to nearly double a person’s chance of developing melanoma—the deadliest form of skin cancer—in their lifetime.
Join us today in providing new parents with a Coolibar UPF blanket and invaluable tips to protect their newborns (0-6 months) from ultraviolet light. We will deliver sun-protective blankets and educational materials as they depart participating hospitals.
By sponsoring our No Sun for Babies Program, you will be doing a world of good–spreading skin cancer awareness and creating healthy, sun-protective habits for newborns and their families. Your support will help save lives!

How do you use your blanket to protect your baby from the sun? Send us photos of the creative ways you use the blanket you received in the NSFB backpack. Enter to win discounts and prizes!
- Create a cover for your front carrier. Tie the blanket corners to the straps of the carrier to keep Baby’s little hands and feet out of the sun!
- Make a shade sail over the car seat. Tie the blanket corners to the front seat headrest and across to the backseat headrest to create an airy, shaded area for Baby.
- Â Clip blanket across the stroller canopy and to the stroller frame to extend the shade coverage. Make sure to leave plenty of openings as a lack of air circulation can greatly increase the temperature inside the stroller.
- Â Use the blanket as a nursing cover or to shade Baby (and yourself) when cuddling your precious bundle.
